Welcome to my Website

I'm Mark David Anthony, a Ph.D. student in Rhetoric, Composition, and Technical and Professional Writing at Georgia State University. In 2001, I was 35 and had climbed pretty far up the corporate success ladder, only to discover that the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall. By January of 2004, I had re-enrolled in college and one year later, at age 40, I walked across the stage to receive my B.A. in English, Magna Cum Laude. Eighteen months later I earned an M.A. in Professional Writing from Kennesaw State University and began my Ph.D. work the next semester.

The peace I am thinking of is the dance of an open mind when it engages another equally open one—an activity that occurs most naturally, most often in the reading/writing world we live in.

I am returning to my dream and first love from more than 20 years ago: to be a college professor and writer. So far, everything about my experience confirms that I am doing the right thing. I love my studies; I love the research; I love writing; and I love teaching. Right now I am searching for a full-time or adjunct instructorship in an Atlanta-area university while I continue my studies. I also continue to do contract work in the IT field, currently working as a contract web designer, technical writer, and documentation analyst.
